2014 IFAJ Photo Contest

The overall winner in this year’s IFAJ Star Prize for photo excellence, sponsored by DeLaval, is Cliff Donaldson of Northern Ireland. He won this distinction, as well as the competition’s nature-landscape category, for his photo “Mountain Farm.”

The image received high scores in composition from the judges, noting the variety of lines displayed in the image create interest and pattern. The image also scored high for impact since, as one judge said, he was drawn to the image by the "beauty and vulnerability of our world."

This year’s competition drew 88 entries: 33 in the production category, in the people category, 26 in the people category and 29 in the nature category, from across the IFAJ membership.

These are this year’s winners:
Winner: Johan Norval (South Africa), “Loxton Meatmasters Retiring for the Day.”
Distinguished recognition: Knut Valberg, (Norway), “MIT Fablab, Lyngen, Norway."

Winner: Paula Heelan (Australia), “Mt. Collan Campdraft Action”
Distinguished recognition: Cliff Donaldson (Northern Ireland), "Still Farming at 70."

Winner: Cliff Donaldson (Northern Ireland), “Mountain Farm"
