Between Passion and Pressure

Farmers produce food, feed, fuel, fibre, forests, flowers, and even fun (think of agri-tourism). Every day, they face the pressures of the environment, the climate, diseases and pests, the market, the consumer and the public opinion.

What drives these people? The love and respect for nature, plants and animals. The love for their job. ‘Between passion & pressure’ not only covers the farmers themselves, but also us, agricultural journalists – who feel the pressure for deadlines – and everyone else in the agricultural sector: scientists, teachers, academics, suppliers, dealers, traders,... What drives us? The passion for our job and for the farmers.
