It’s Canada’s turn next!

The IFAJ torch – or should I say flag – has officially been passed to Canada as we formally assumed the role of host nation at the farewell banquet of this year’s congress in Belgium.
The International Federation of Agriculture Journalists (IFAJ) hosts its annual conference, called a congress, in a different member country every year. In 2011, Canada will be welcoming farm writers and agricultural communicators to our country for the first time in over forty years. More...

The IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders in Agricultural Journalism awards recognize the leadership potential of young members from countries belonging to the International Federation of Ag Journalist (IFAJ). Recipients each receive 1,000 Euros to support their participation at an IFAJ Congress.
An Australian television journalist has won the inaugural IFAJ Star Prize for Agricultural Broadcasting, announced last night at a special dinner in Ostend, Belgium.
PETER NORDHOLM ANDERSEN, Denmark, is this year’s winner of the IFAJ Star
Prize for print journalism. The award was made at the 2010 International
Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) Congress in Ostend, Belgium, April 17–20.

The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists has lost one of the most dedicated and experienced members of its executive committee, with the sudden death of Don Gomery on 1 April 2010. He was a good friend and colleague, a thoughtful person with a sharp intellect and strong sense of humour.
New Stock and Land editor Tom Dawkins is heading to Europe next month after winning a prestigious national award for young rural journalists. Tom has won the Alltech Young Leaders in Rural Journalism Award, organised annually by the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists (ACAJ) and sponsored by global animal nutrition company, Alltech.
NEWLY appointed EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Dacian Cioloş will be the principal speaker at an invitation-only symposium on the Future of the Common Agricultural Policy during the post-congress part of the IFAJ 54th annual congress in April.
