Croatia is calling! Secure your spot – Early Bird registration for IFAJ Congress 2026 opens March 15

The Croatian Agricultural Journalists’ Association is gearing up to host the IFAJ World Congress of Agricultural Journalists for the first time, from September 16th to 20th this year.

In honour of the event, they have created an exciting program that connects small and large-scale producers, continental and coastal Croatia, as well as crop, vegetable, and fruit growers. It features meat and dairy producers, fish farms, and new approaches to fruit growing.

“You will discover how viticulture is deeply woven into Croatia’s cultural fabric and traditions. We’ll taste exceptional wines from indigenous varieties, tour cutting-edge processing facilities with major investments, and experience time-honoured methods for crafting culinary delicacies,” said Leticija Hrenković, a member of the congress organising committee, while highlighting the region’s historical landmarks and seasonal cultural events.

The program will cover both conventional and organic production. You will hear directly from leading agricultural scientists and get exclusive insights into groundbreaking projects shaping the future of farming.

“You will meet Croatia’s passionate food producers and witness sustainable forest ecosystem management firsthand. We’ll tackle real challenges in food production while celebrating the unique qualities and remarkable results born from our farmers’ tireless dedication,” pointed out Vedran Stapić, chairman of the Croatian guild.

Online editions are buzzing with information, and registration is starting soon. Moreover, early bird registration begins on March 15th, for which the organisers have set aside a specific quota of seats.

You can find plenty of information on the official IFAJ congress website: https://ifaj2026.danh.hr/, which guides you through the registration process step by step.

EU Food Safety Context

The main congress will be held in the agricultural region of the Pannonian Valley, in the city of Osijek. Organisers are also offering pre- and post-tours as a unique opportunity to experience Croatian farming and the countryside. Starting with medieval Varaždin and finishing with a tour of Zadar or Istria offers great value for both business and pleasure.

As the EU’s youngest member, Croatia brings a fresh perspective.

“After Denmark in 2022, the congress is returning to the EU, which is a great opportunity to discuss the challenges of the EU food safety framework,” adds Sara Mikrut Vunjak from the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food, a congress co-organiser.

See you in Croatia!
