The registration period is drawing to a close for the IFAJ World Congress of Agricultural Journalists, which will be organized for the first time this year in Croatia, in the city of Osijek, marking the organization’s jubilee 70th anniversary.
The Croatian Association of Agricultural Journalists has prepared a rich and diverse program that connects the continental and coastal parts of this European country.
“We can’t wait to show our colleagues how farmers here are producing food and what the specific characteristics of our rural areas are,” said the host of the gathering, Vedran Stapić, president of the association, on behalf of the Congress organizing committee.
They expect around 200 journalists from 50+ countries to arrive, and the special occasion is also a jubilee – celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of IFAJ.
The program for this year’s professional gathering includes visits to more than 60 farms across 6 different counties.
The pre- and post-tours are incredibly interesting. From Varaždin County before the congress, where the focus is on vegetables and products with protected designations of origin, to two coastal tours – one in Istria and the other in Dalmatia, around the city of Zadar. These, of course, carry a Mediterranean flair, as we will be staying in the homeland of olive oils, wine, and fresh sea fish.
It is also worth highlighting the main conference day, named AgroRocks, which will discuss the specific characteristics of Croatian agricultural production, as well as the food safety system in the European Union, where Croatia is the youngest member. Naturally, the focus will also be on the challenges of journalism in the era of AI technologies.
The hosts have presented all the information on the website https://ifaj2026.danh.hr/, where you can find everything you need. They are also quite active on social media, so if you prefer that way of communicating, feel free to follow them there 😉
It should be noted that the participant registration period for the Congress is coming to an end; regular prices are valid until July 31.
“For everyone coming to the Congress, it would be a real shame not to participate in the pre- or post-tours, so we have secured an additional 10% discount for those who book both a pre- and post-tour alongside the congress – the ALLIN discount,” noted Leticija Hrenković, adding that everything will be ready for a successful Congress in this popular tourist country, which is visited annually by 5x more tourists than its total population.
See you in Croatia in September!
