LIBERIA AGRICULTURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISTS NETWORK LAUNCHES MONTHLY DIGITAL NEWSLETTER
In a noteworthy step toward enhancing the dissemination of agricultural and environmental news, the Liberia Agricultural and Environmental Journalists Network (LAEJN) has officially launched its monthly digital newsletter. The newsletter aims to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest developments in Liberia’s agricultural and environmental sectors. It will feature in-depth articles, expert opinions, policy analyses, and success stories from the field.
“We are excited to introduce this newsletter as a platform for sharing valuable information and insights on agriculture and the environment,” said LAEJN National Program Coordinator Darlington Porkpa. “Our goal is to empower journalists with the knowledge and tools they need to report accurately and effectively on these vital issues.”
Serving as a repository for agriculture and environmental news and information from across Liberia, the newsletter will highlight several pressing topics, including the impact of climate change on local farming practices, innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture, and community-led conservation efforts. Additionally, it includes interviews with key figures in the agricultural and environmental sectors and updates on relevant policy developments.
An essential objective of the LAEJN newsletter is to increase the cadre of journalists in Liberia who report on agriculture and environmental news. By providing specialized training and resources, LAEJN aims to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge necessary to cover these critical issues comprehensively and accurately. The award also seeks to incentivize journalists and media organizations to prioritize and invest in agricultural reporting, contributing to informed decision-making, sustainable development, and food security in Liberia.

LAJN was established on June 15, 2015. LAEJN in July 2018, attained international accreditation from the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) as a full member during its congress in the Netherlands.
