NANETTE GIOVANELI OF ARGENTINA WINS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR AMADAS WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE VIDEO

INTERLAKEN, Switzerland (August 15, 2024)—Nanette Giovaneli of Argentina was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Video, the organization’s honor for the best video in its worldwide competition. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Interlaken, Switzerland, on August 15.

Giovaneli’s video, “Amadas: Historias de Mujeres de Campo,” inspired the judges to say, “Beautifully shot and researched with engaging, informative talent and presenter. Well paced. Good interviews about impressive individuals. Atmospheric coverage with good variety of shots. The host’s interaction with the family was very natural, which is a useful skill.”

Ronelle Louwrens of Food for Mzansi in South Africa received a runner-up honor in the Video category for “Farming With Nature” Episode 4.

Judges of the Video category included documentary filmaker Ian Petrie, retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; Ken Rundle of Scottish Agricultural College; and freelancer and former Australian Broadcasting Corporation journalist Prue Adams.

“The IFAJ Star Prize recognizes the best agricultural journalism in the world,” notes Addy Rossi, IFAJ secretary-general. “As a result, the contest is both a friendly competition and a great professional improvement opportunity for our entire membership. Nanette’s outstanding video provides us all with a great example of using technical excellence to share the stories of these inspiring farm women.”
