TREVOR BACQUE OF CANADA WINS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR INNOVATION STORY
INTERLAKEN, Switzerland (August 15, 2024)—Trevor Bacque of Canada was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Innovation, the organization’s honor for the best reporting on the theme of Innovation in its worldwide competition. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Interlaken, Switzerland, on August 15.
Bacque’s article, “Digital Domain: Non-Traditional Grain Marketing Gains Momentum,” appeared in Grains West. Judges described it as “a well-researched explainer” with “good illustrations, good insight into a growing industry.”
“Trevor Bacque’s story on cutting-edge grain marketing tools explains a key innovation to readers in a manner that is clear and exciting,” notes Addy Rossi, IFAJ secretary-general. “For our first year of recognizing themes with the IFAJ Star Prize, it is a perfect example.”
Katie Knapp of the United States received a runner-up recognition in the Innovation category for her “Deep Winter Seedlings” article in The Furrow magazine. Lucy de la Pasture of the United Kingdom was recognized with a runner-up prize for “Diseases Without Frontiers” in Views on Agriculture.
Judges of the Innovation category of the Star Prize were Andy Castillo of Farm Progress in the United States of and Hansjürg Jaeger of Switzerland.
