In a week of online voting in August, delegates to the assembly of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) elected members of the 2024-2026 Presidium:
- Steve Werblow of the United States, President
- Adalberto Rossi of Argentina, Vice President
- Magda du Toit of South Africa, Treasurer
- Adrian Bell of the United Kingdom, Secretary-General
Katrin Fischer of Germany also ran for the Vice President position.
All candidates addressed an online gathering of the IFAJ Delegate Assembly via Zoom on July 10, 2024 to present their visions for the organization. Voting was conducted online from August 6 through August 13. Scrutineers elected by the IFAJ Executive reviewed the process and verified the results, which were announced at the Delegate Assembly in Switzerland on August 14.
“The online election process ran smoothly once again, allowing all delegates from all our member guilds to participate whether or not they were able to attend Congress in person, ” said Werblow. “It was great to have participation and dialogue in the online gathering, and it is very exciting to have Magda du Toit on board as our new Treasurer. I am also grateful for the ideas and energy Katrin Fischer brought to the election, engaging us in the democratic process.”
“I and my colleagues on the Presidium are honored to be elected to serve IFAJ for another term,” Werblow added. “We are all dedicated to working together to create more opportunities for agricultural journalists and communicators around the world.”
