The overall winner in this year’s IFAJ Star Prize for photo excellence, sponsored by DeLaval, is Peter Risteviski of Australia. He won this distinction, as well as the competition’s people category, for his photo “I won’t abandon you.”
The judges described the winning photos as true craftsmanship, but also noted that the photographers have to combine their skills with the right timing. The overall winner was described as a well-captured dramatic shot.
This year’s competition drew 71 entries: 23 in the people category, 26 in the production category and 22 in the nature category, from across the IFAJ membership.

The awards were presented at the 2013 International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) Congress in Rosario Argentina.
Judges for this year’s competition were Janice Thoroughgood, manager of creative development with Farm Credit Canada, and Alex de Haan of the Dutch Photographers Federation, and past winner of the IFAJ Star Prize for Photography Contest.
