
MAHAMADI SEBOGO WINS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR SUSTAINABILITY STORY
INTERLAKEN, Switzerland (August 15, 2024)—Mahamadi Sebogo of Burkina Faso was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Sustainability, the organization’s honor for the best reporting on the theme of Sustainability in its worldwide competition. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Interlaken, Switzerland, on August 15.
Sebogo’s article, “Apekira Gomgnimbou: The Agroecologist Who Breeds Warthogs,” appeared in Sidwaya. Judges called it “a very thorough portrait.”
“Mahamadi Sebogo’s profile of a very committed, very innovative producer brings sustainability to life for readers,” notes Addy Rossi, IFAJ secretary-general. “It is a wonderful example of reporting on an important theme.”
Elaine Shein of the United States received a runner-up recognition in the Sustainability category for “The Future of Food” article on DTN/Progressive Farmer. Mike Abram of the United Kingdom was recognized with a runner-up prize for “The Wildfarmed Way” in Crop Production Magazine.
Judges of the Sustainability category of the Star Prize were Josephine van Gelder of Barenbrug Holland BV in the Netherlands and Owen Roberts of the University of Illinois.
