SUE NEALES OF AUSTRALIA WINS INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURAL JOURNALISTS’ 2022 STAR PRIZE FOR PRINT

Sue Neales was awarded the 2022 Star Prize for Print by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) for “Milk Man,” her profile of dairy farmer Barry Irvin in AgJournal. The award was presented in Vingsted, Denmark, on June 27 at the 2022 IFAJ World Congress. Neales’ story was nominated for the award by the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists.

Judges applauded Neales’ storytelling skill and her ability to unify Irvin’s professional and personal life in the narrative.

“Sue Neales’ profile of a remarkable and resilient farmer is an outstanding example of the art of print reporting,” added Adalberto Rossi, secretary-general of IFAJ. “We congratulate Sue and all the other entrants from around the world on their great work.”

The IFAJ Star Prize for Print was judged by Canadian freelance agricultural journalist John Morriss and Markus Rediger, head of Swiss agriculture information agency LID and former IFAJ president. American journalist Gil Gullickson received the 2022 runner-up Star Prize award for “Pay Dirt” in Successful Farming magazine.
