One of Australia’s five rural media clubs has created a special award to pay tribute to people who make a significant contribution to communicating rural issues.
Rural Media South Australia, based in Adelaide, gave its inaugural Rural Media Icon award to Angela Goode, a well-known author and journalist. Goode was a columnist for Adelaide’s daily metropolitan newspaper, The Advertiser, from the early 1980s until June when she gave up the task to focus on writing books. Her column was the only regular column in an Australian metropolitan newspaper dedicated to rural issues.
