NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025) — Abi Kay of the United Kingdom was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its 2025 Star Prize for Supreme Guild Award, the organization’s highest honor for an outstanding work that has already received top honors in a national guild’s award program.
Kay is a member of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.
“This story shone a spotlight on the issue of sexual assault at young farmers’ parties in England. The target audience was the farming community as a whole. In publishing, we sought to start a national conversation about this kind of behaviour, which for too long had been an open secret. In the piece, we looked at the slogans worn on polo shirts by party goers, some of which condoned rape and sexual violence, as well as inappropriate touching and how this was perceived as normal by many young farming women. The article also explored what kind of impact this behaviour was having upon farming’s image among the wider public,” says Kay.
