NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025)—Steve Mokaya of Kenya was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Audio, the organization’s honor for the best audio broadcast in its worldwide competition.
Bright is a member of the Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.
Mokaya’s podcast, “How Maasai Women Are Countering Drought With Beekeeping”, was published on The Standard Podcast. Judges described the winning episode: “This podcast perfectly captures a profound and significant shift in pastoral culture.”
“By focusing this podcast on the vulnerability and resilience of rural women, Steve has produced a thoughtful insight. Excellent work!” notes Adrian Bell, IFAJ secretary-general.
Anna Jones of the United Kingdom was honored with a runner-up Star Prize for his “Battle Grounds: Culture Wars in the Countryside (Vegans)” broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
Judges for the Star Prize for Digital Media were Leigh Radford from Australia and team.
