NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025) — Kallee Buchanan of Australia was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Digital Media, the organization’s honor for the best digital media reporting in its worldwide competition.
Buchanan is a member of the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.
Buchanan’s piece, “‘When dams fail, people die’: Finding the flaw in Paradise that puts thousands at risk”, was posted by Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Judges said of Buchanan’s work: “This story reflects painstaking and meticulous investigative work.”
“Kallee’s reporting is an excellent example of what agricultural journalism offers to all its audiences and demonstrates with skill the versatility of a great professional,” notes Adrian Bell, IFAJ secretary-general.
Brett Worthington of Australia of ABC News received a runner-up Star Prize for Digital Media for “Inside the vault”.
Judges for the Star Prize for Digital Media were Leigh Radford from Australia and team.
