NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025)—Philippa Courtney of Australia was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Trade, Economics, Global Issues, the organization’s honor for the best reporting on the theme of Trade, Economics, Global Issues in its worldwide competition.
Courtney is a member of the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.
Courtney’s video, “Dairy vs Trees”, appeared on ABC Television, Landline. Judges commented “…very interesting. Food security and farmland scarcity are two crucial issues for agriculture and food production.”
“Philippa’s skills, insight and understanding in producing this piece, with all its context, exemplify the unique characteristics of the professionals who make up the IFAJ,” notes Adrian Bell, IFAJ secretary-general.
Brett Worthington of ABC News in Australia received a runner-up recognition in the Trade, Economics, Global Issues category for “Inside the vault”.
Judges of the Trade, Economics and Global Issues category of the Star Prize were IFAJ Lena Johansson of Sweden and Sera Hofstettler of Switzerland.
