NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025) — Lindi Botha of South Africa was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its 2025 Star Prize for Journalism, the organization’s highest honor for the best print reporting in its worldwide competition.

Botha is a member of the Agricultural Writers association of South Africa. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.

Botha’s piece ‘You are what your food ate: the health connection in the soil‘ was published by Farmer’s Weekly. Judges applauded Botha’s ‘excellent article’.

Lindi’s take on this subject made for a very interesting article, which she explored to the full. It was also very well presented,” says Adrian Bell, IFAJ secretary-general.

Ariosto Duarte of Brazil received a runner-up Star Prize for Print for “Carbon credits arrive in livestock farming” in DBO magazine.

Judges of the Print category included Tars Cheema of Canada, Stefan Nimmervoll of Austria, Lena Johansson of Sweden, and Joyce Njango of Kenya.

Links to the winning articles, as well as the winning entries in the other Star Prize categories, are posted online at www.ifaj.org. The IFAJ Star Prize award program is sponsored by the Alliance brand of farm tires.
