NAIROBI, Kenya (October 18, 2025)—Katie Knapp of the United States was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Technology, the organization’s honor for the best reporting on the theme of Technology in its worldwide competition.
Knapp is a member of the Agricultural Communicators Network. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 18.
Knapp’s photography, “Checking Pivots”, appeared in The Furrow. Judges noted that “the photo tells in several ways the importance of water, a top important topic, also globally when it comes to farming. Technically perfect photo.”
“Katie has transformed routine inspection into a story of surviving. Her technique is perfect,” notes Adrian Bell, IFAJ secretary-general.
Jason Jenkins of Progressive Farmer in United States received a runner-up recognition in the Technology category for “Hybrid How-To”.
Judges of the Technology category of the Star Prize were Jesús Lopez Colmenarejo of Spain and Micke Godtfredsen of Finland.
